Richie was a focused learner this afternoon when he used abstract art as a media to communicate his feelings about bullying.
Thank you to all the parents, pupils and staff who shared their mathematical talents in our Mastery Maths through reasoning workshop this morning. It was great to hear pupils’ detailed explanations of their deep understanding. Parents asked excellent and often challenging questions of them realising that it is not about giving pupils answers to their mathematical problems but leaving them to calculate and solve them themselves to try embed their learning. Parents’ feedback was exceeding positive with comments like, ‘I can’t believe how much they can do’ or ‘I can’t do that but yet my child can, wow’. Several also commented that they were impressed that the focus wasn’t finding the ‘right’ answer but about learning from mistakes and the process built from skill building to fluency to problem solving to reasoning.
Thank you everyone for your support of school.
It was a busy week in school, as pupils were highly engaged in a wide range of creative activities through their National Artsmark celebrations. Miss Sharpe, as school’s Creative Arts senior leader, ensured that pupils and staff alike were truly inspired. The exhibition that took place on Friday afternoon, delighted pupils’ families and friends. Thank you everyone for the wonderful support you give to North Wheatley pupils.
Pupils have been practising their dance routine in preparation for this afternoon’s #CelebrateArtsmark event!
